DOM TRAGIC: ARTIST OF THE MONTH 001

By Phil Osae Addo

Born and raised in Lakeport California, emerging artist Dom Tragic grew up feeling constrained by his surroundings, continuously encountering adversity and rejection. People were always asking him for advice, but when his football dreams didn't pan out, some thought he should be a therapist instead. But Tragic had no interest in formally counseling others and only wanted to help from the kindness of his heart. In 2014, he finally embraced his passion for music, collaborating with talented producer friends during studio sessions. Pursuing music had always been in the back of Tragic's mind, as he consistently recognized rising talents like J. Cole and Kendrick Lamar early in their careers.Though he never fully committed to learning an instrument, Tragic was eager to gain knowledge and decided to move to LA to actively chase his musical aspirations.

J. Cole has always been Tragic's favorite artist, citing KOD  as his best album. However, Tragic's biggest influence in finding his own sound was Westside Boogie, relating deeply to the vulnerability in Boogie's music. After Tragic's loyal supporters flooded Boogie's social media to advocate for Tragic opening a show for him at The Novo in downtown LA, Boogie reached out to him directly collaborate on a track.Though the track didn't come into fruition for various reasons, Tragic remains guided by his faith, believing God handles his record label and management. With a sense of purpose greater than himself, Tragic remains devoted to bringing his authentic self through music.

After the trials and tribulations of past relationships, Tragic created his song "Goddess" with a purpose in mind - he desires someone who shares his unwavering faith and devotion to God just as much as he does. Despite emerging from a painful ended relationship, Tragic refuses to fuel his art with pain and advance his career out of heartbreak. "Goddess" represents Tragic resilience to keep pushing moving forward and symbolizes keeping faith in companionship aligned with his values.

For Tragic, nothing tops the unconditional love and support of his friends, family, and fans. Even in his lowest moments, his team and loyal supporters remain by his side. Tragic feels immensely thankful to have them standing behind him. He acknowledges that without these core people believing in him, he would be lost. Their unwavering belief powers him through, reminding Tragic that with God and family, anything is possible. For Tragic, music is pointless without both faithful fans and his tight-knit community of supporters fueling the journey.

Tragic points to Auguste Fest 2023 as a definitive highlight in his career. Having Dejon Paul from No Jumper introduce him on stage to open for RJmrLA allowed Tragic to uplift his hometown streets with light and love. The energetic crowd manifested Tragic's purpose and God's blessing. Soon after, HYPE Fest 2023 offered another milestone when Rob Stone, best known for his 2014 hit “Chill Bill'', opened for Tragic. Both moments solidified Tragic's humble roots while reinforcing no limit to his dreams. From neighborhood shows to major artist support, Tragic stays true to his origins while thinking big.

What motivates and inspires Dom Tragic to keep creating, even amidst challenges? Above all, love. Tragic states, "Love is the goal. Love is always the mission." He responds to any hardship with compassion and understanding - without these tests, there would be no Dom Tragic. While life may often seem tragic, his faith and light outshine any struggles faced.

Looking ahead in 2024, fans can expect new singles with music videos from Tragic throughout the year, all leading up to his debut album "Live 4 This Moment" by the end of the year.. He plans to collaborate with close friends and artists for the project. Be on the lookout for Tragic's next single, dropping in March.

When asked what advice he would give aspiring artists on their own journeys, Tragic stresses finding purpose and your lane first. Go outside, have faith regardless of music uncertainty, start performing, grow, and build with supportive people. Keep improving your sound through feedback and believe in your purpose. Work on being a better person daily, even when alone. Ride it out and be patient. "Everything will fall in line, faith above all."

As Dom Tragic's journey continues to unfold, one thing is clear, his music comes straight from the heart. Despite setbacks, he persists in spreading light. His resilience and raw lyricism speak to the human condition, though his come-up is just beginning, his vulnerability touches lives. For these reasons and more, TCC Entertainment is proud to name Dom Tragic our Artist of the Month the month of January. TCC looks forward to seeing your voice touch more souls through the power of music.
