Young Dolph's legacy is immortalized through his team's effort of "Dolphland" Museum
Paper Route Empire, an independent record label founded by the late Memphis rapper and multi-platinum hip-hop artist Young Dolph, partnered with Trap Music Museum for the national launch of the “Dolphland” Pop-Up Museum Tour.
The “Dolphland” Pop-Up Museum honored Young Dolph’s life, his contributions to hip-hop, and celebrated his posthumous album “Paper Route Frank”. The pop-up museum was curated and inspired by his journey towards becoming a multi-platinum recording artist, featuring artwork portraying Adolph “Young Dolph” Thornton Jr. throughout various stages of his life.
Attendees of the “Dolphland” Pop-Up Museum Tour were fully immersed into the creativity, music, and legacy of Young Dolph as they experienced sensory overload via various mediums of original art presented throughout the exhibit. Additionally, guests had access to exclusively designed merch that was only available in cities that the “Dolphland” Pop-Up Museum Tour visited.
Skye Williams, also known as “Set by Skye”, who led activations for Wale and Jidenna, was the creative director behind “Dolphland” Pop-Up Museum Tour. Williams explained that each room design came from friends, family, and collaborators close to Young Dolph. The pop-up contained a recreation of a corner store on Castalia Street in Memphis, a “weed room”, and a recording studio, as well as rooms showcasing Young Dolph’s platinum plaques and the other artists signed to Paper Route Empire.
The “Dolphland” Pop-Up Museum Tour was held in Washington, DC from Friday, March 10th - Sunday, March 12th, 2023, at the Asian Fusion Gallery, 1343 L Street NW, Washington, DC, 20005. The event was open to all ages, and tickets were $40.00 at https://thedolphlandmuseum.com or at www.youngdolph.com. Daily hours varied, and guests had an allotted 30-minute time slot after purchasing a ticket to visit the pop-up museum.
